The HI96778-25 are replacement reagents for the colorimetric determination of Total Iron. There are enough vials for approximately 25 tests to be used with Hanna's benchtop photometers. These high quality reagents are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and are clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date on each packet for traceability.
  • Pre-made reagents for ease of use
  • Prepared with high purity chemicals
  • Marked with expiration date and lot number for traceability

The HI96778-25 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate iron measurements with Hanna's benchtop photometers. These reagents follow the phenanthroline method to determine iron (Fe) concentration. The Total Iron method measures all forms of iron, including ferrous, ferric, dissolved, suspended, and complexed iron. For samples that contain complexed/chelated iron or suspended iron, such as typical wastewater samples, digestion of the sample is required to allow all of the iron to react with the reagent.
For determination of iron, all ferric (Fe3 ) ions are reduced to ferrous (Fe2 ) ions before the phenanthroline reagent is added to the sample. The reaction between ferrous ions and the reagent causes an orange colored complex to form; the greater the concentration, the deeper the color.
