Portable Multiparameter pH/EC/ISE/Turbidity/DO Meter with GPS - HI98294
The HI98294 is a multi-parameter water monitoring meter and probe system for field use. With 14 measurable parameters, built-in GPS, and field-replaceable sensors, it allows for comprehensive, geolocated data collection on any water body, under any environmental conditions.
- 14 parameters in a single instrument: pH, ORP, DO, EC, turbidity, ISE (ammonium, chloride, nitrate), and derived parameters, all on a backlit LCD display with automatic character resizing.
- Built-in 12-channel GPS for automatic geolocation of each measurement, with data transfer to mapping software.
- IP67/IP68 construction with a rubber boot on the meter and a fully waterproof probe, ready for the most demanding field conditions.

Designed for field measurement
The HI98294 meter is equipped with a protective rubber boot and reaches an IP67 rating, while the HI7698294 probe is fully waterproof (IP68) for continuous immersion up to 20 m. The Quick Connect waterproof DIN connector ensures quick and secure connection even in rainy or wet conditions.
The system comes complete, with all three sensors already installed on the probe: pH/ORP, EC/Turbidity, and galvanic DO. No assembly is required before use: simply connect the probe, calibrate it with the included Quick Cal solution, and start measuring. All sensors are replaceable directly on-site via automatic-recognition screw connectors.
17 parameters, one instrument
The HI98294 directly measures pH, ORP, dissolved oxygen (% saturation and mg/L), conductivity, turbidity, and temperature. From the internal barometer and conductivity measurements, the system automatically calculates TDS, salinity, resistivity, seawater sigma, and atmospheric pressure. Using optional ISE sensors, which can be installed in place of the pH/ORP sensor, the measurement can be extended to include ammonium, chloride, and nitrate.
The GLP function stores the last five calibrations with the date, time, and associated values for each parameter. Logging data can be exported in .csv format or as a graph via the USB-C port, with direct connection to a PC or USB flash drive.
Built-in GPS
The HI98294 integrates a 12-channel GPS receiver with a position accuracy of 10 m. Coordinates are displayed on the LCD display along with up to 10 measurement parameters and are automatically recorded with each logging data point. The 3-bar indicator in the lower right corner of the display shows real-time signal quality; in the event of signal loss, the system stores the last known position.
Coordinates can be associated with custom alphanumeric labels and display distances between the current location and preset locations. GPS data, once transferred to a PC, integrates with mapping software: selecting a point on the map displays all measurements associated with that location. This feature is particularly useful for sampling campaigns on distributed point networks, rivers and lakes, or any context where sampling locations need to be documented.

Compatible Sensors
The HI98294 supports the use of ISE (Ion Selective Electrode) sensors for measuring ammonium, chloride, and nitrate, key parameters in water quality monitoring in environmental and agricultural settings. ISE sensors are installed in the same location as the pH/ORP sensor via a screw connector: the meter automatically recognizes the inserted sensor and adapts the display without any manual configuration.
The probe's modular configuration allows for the simultaneous installation of an ISE sensor, an EC/Turbidity sensor, and a DO sensor, covering nearly all parameters of interest for natural waters in a single immersion.

- Surface water quality monitoring: rivers, lakes, canals, and coastal areas
- Multi-point environmental sampling campaigns with GPS location tracking
- Measurements of fresh, brackish, and marine water
- Aquaculture: Monitoring critical parameters in ponds, fish farms, and shellfish farms
- Drinking water: Quality verification in wells and municipal distribution networks
- Agricultural monitoring: Nitrate and ammonium analysis in irrigation and wastewater
- Environmental inspections and controls where geolocation of the sampling point is a regulatory requirement
- Research and surveillance activities where each data point must be documented with time, date, and GPS location
